Rastafari Africa-centred around oneness, levity, Godhead and a consciousness. This is the ultimate expression for them of the true self, and a mirror image of the symbolic Lion of Judah and a Godhead consciousness. The levity which developed in Jamaica in the 1930s, following the coronation of Haile Selassie. Haile Selassie is Kings Of Kings, King David for Rastafarians. JAMAICAN RIDDIMS
The introduction of digital drum machines revolutionized dancehall music in the 1980’s. The Casio, Roland cr-78, Yamaha keyboard and the Oberheim DX were some of first machines to actually make new rhythms in 1980. Steely & Clevie began experimenting with these machines in late 80’s-early 90’s, putting out a large number of “computer riddim” and started a revolution in Jamaica. The first riddim to start the fire was the King Jammy’s “Sleng Teng” riddim (1985), which was played by Wayne Smith on a cheap Casio machine. King Tubby (born Osbourne Ruddock, January 28, 1941 – February 6, 1989) was a Jamaican electronics and sound engineer. His name is know globally and considered the undisputed “King of Dub”.
