Rastafari Africa-centred around oneness, levity, Godhead and a consciousness. This is the ultimate expression for them of the true self, and a mirror image of the symbolic Lion of Judah and a Godhead consciousness. The levity which developed in Jamaica in the 1930s, following the coronation of Haile Selassie. Haile Selassie is Kings Of Kings, King David for Rastafarians. For Rastafarians, worship goes beyond the spirit of man, and incorporates the spirit of all living things. Clement Seymour “Sir Coxsone” Dodd, CD (Kingston, Jamaica, January 26, 1932 – May 5, 2004) was a Jamaican record producer who was influential in the development of Ska and Reggae in the 1950s, 1960s and beyond. When the R&B craze ended in the United States, Dodd and his rivals were forced to begin recording their own Jamaican music in order to meet the local demand for new music. SOUND SYSTEM PIONEER U-Roy as his most prominent deejay and with access to some of Treasure Isle Studios’ finest rocksteady rhythms, extraordinarily popular and U-Roy became a local celebrity. U-Roy, began as a sound system DJ in Jamaica in 1961, spinning records for the Doctor Dickies set, later known as Dickies Dynamic, in such well-known Jamaican venues as Victoria Pier, Foresters Hall and Emmett Park. The introduction of digital drum machines revolutionized dancehall music in the 1980’s. The Casio, Roland cr-78, Yamaha keyboard and the Oberheim DX were some of first machines to actually make new rhythms in 1980. Steely & Clevie began experimenting with these machines in late 80’s-early 90’s, putting out a large number of “computer riddim” and started a revolution in Jamaica.
