Donnaray Roc is a leader of her generation, she is a strong advocate for building and honing Jamaican culture in global markets. For the last eight (8) years Donnaray is on a mission to spin the international conversation on Dancehall culture in a more positive light not only that to bridge the gab and provide trading opportuintes between Jamaica and West Africa. Dancehall culture is so influential around the globe and after visiting so many European countries, it was over due to head to the mother land. To kick things off, she has started off in Ghana to implement the Jamaica Ghana initiative.
“Considering that Ghana is the gateway to Africa, she decided to go there first – tracing our origin, understanding our differences, similarities, and background as most Jamaicans are Ghanaians from the Ashanti tribe,” she said. After some time and assessment in Ghana, she ignited ‘The Rebirth Project’ which is, as she describes it, a grass-roots premier movement that will positively bring change for Brand Jamaica and dancehall culture inside and outside. The ambassador is very passionate about the great opportunities ahead to ignite the kingship in Ghana. Her team sets out to bridge the gap between the two countries and continents.
Her company ROC Factory has received a Letter of Endorsement from The Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture to launch the official Cultural Exchange Programme between Africa and the Caribbean. The initiative seeks to revolutionize the Ghanaian and African musical culture through training of the up-and-coming artistes in the music profession, ensuring the creation of Ghanaian brand identity for global competitiveness and wholly improving and advancing the Creative Arts Economy by means of specialized Dancehall-Afrobeat income streams for enhanced foreign exchange revenues. The training of the human capital in the cultural, music, and dance industry is to be done through educational conferences and seminars via the ROC Factory Development Hub.
